My Quilts #318: International Sisters Quilt 2023

Image
Finished Size: 60" x 76" This is the third International Sisters Quilt I've made using the sister blocks from Sew Preeti.  Last year, I gifted one to my sister and posted.  I made this second quilt when a dear friend of my sister saw it.  She loved it and asked if I would make one for her.  I accepted because I could never say no to my sister who asked on her friend's behalf.  Her friend also agreed to reimburse the cost of materials. There is a personal story behind this quilt, which was made to honor the recipient's brother who died in 1988, and I offered to add pictures of her brother and family.  I was happy to donate my time and labor to make this special quilt. And, of course, RBG is in the center of all these beautiful ladies.  The RBG block was specifically requested for this quilt because Justice Ginsberg fought hard for women's rights and sexual justice. I used Kaffe Fassett prints for the dresses and added the scalloped border for a special effect.

My Quilts #317: Rams NFL Team Quilt 2023

Image
Finished Size: 74" x 98" I made this quilt for my daughter's January birthday.  She requested it after seeing the Raiders team quilt I made for my son-in-law Anthony. The pattern is "1st and 10" from McCall's Quilting and is free.  It was so fast and easy to make! The quilting design is Touchdown, an E2E design from Urban Elementz.  The footballs, helmets, and stars are perfect. The backing is a mottled blue which nicely shows off the quilting design.  And a label completes the quilt! My daughter lives in Kentucky so I shipped the quilt via UPS.  I wish I could have delivered the quilt in person but it wasn't in the stars. March 2023 UPDATE :   I mailed the quilt in April and am happy that my daughter received it in a few days.  It is now proudly displayed on her bed.

My Quilts #316: Stack 'n' Whack Wall Hanging 2023

Image
Measures 62" square This is the third Stack 'n' Whack wall hanging I made with this fabric collection.  I made two similar wall hangings in 2004 and still had the leftover materials. There were two completed quilt blocks and several loose wedges in a storage bag that I had forgotten about for almost 20 years.  I had never finished the third wall hanging because the wedges weren't exact duplicates and I ran out of fabric.  I recently rediscovered the materials and decided to finish the job. I think this wall hanging looks pretty good despite the mismatched blocks. I quilted it with an E2E quilting design by Creative Stitches called First Snowfall. I used red thread and love the results. This is a picture of one of the two quilts I made in 2004. March 2023

My Quilts #315: Quilters Stand for Ukraine Wall Hanging 2023

Image
I made this second wall hanging from the Quilters Stand for Ukraine pattern by Pat Sloan.  This is a single block but the pattern also includes instructions to create a throw quilt.   The block finishes at 18-1/2" and the wall hanging measures 24" square. I used Warm & Natural batting and quilted it with an overall stipple design. I display it by my front door to show support for Ukraine.  I made one last year and gifted it to my niece Lisa. March 2023
