My Quilt Parade D: Other Quilts 2007

Image
This holiday wall hanging or table runner was given to me by my BQFF Brenda as a Christmas gift for 2007.  She used a pattern from the Stars by Magic book by Nancy Johnson-Srebro.  The story of this quilt started when  our boss gave us each a quilt store gift card as a Christmas gift.  One day we left work early to shop at the store and fell in love with a store sample featuring a design from this book … and that’s what we each bought with our gift card! My Quilts #159 - #163 ~ Project Linus 2007

More Quilts for Project Linus! These quilts were donated on Make A Blanket Day , February 17, 2007.  The Riverside/Corona chapter donates about 300 blankets and quilts a month to hospitals in the area. This concludes My Quilt Parade for 2007 with 19 quilts, including 9 charity quilts.  Not as many as in previous years, but I still kept busy!

My Quilt #154 ~ Vincent’s Patchwork Quilt 2007

Image
This quilt is very special to me because it was designed by my younger son in 2002 when he was around 11 or 12 years old. He cut and sewed all the squares, but got bored with the project and never finished it. I finally did and planned to donate it to Project Linus, but I decided to keep it instead. December 2007

My Quilt #152 ~ Brenda’s Quilt 2007

“ Forest Friends” This pattern is called “Warm Wishes” and is from the Quiltmaker magazine.  The pattern can be found on their website. This easy design alternates 6-inch print squares with multi-color units of strips. I already had some fabric in my stash with a winter forest theme and decided to make this quilt for my BFF Brenda – who retired in 2007 and moved to Big Bear.  This was her Christmas gift. My Quilt #151 ~ Mary’s Quilt 2007

Image
This pattern is “Texas Two-Step: Down the Line” and is from the book Simple Strategies for Scrap Quilts by Lynn Roddy Brown.  The blocks are made from four-patch and half-square triangle units.  The blues range from light to dark, and the yellows vary from light yellow to gold.  I did not include an inner border, but found a nice blue floral for the border. I gave this quilt to my San Gabriel friend Mary as her Christmas gift. December 2007

My Quilt #150 ~ Cindy’s Table Runner 2007

Image
Rachel, Cindy, and Donna I made the table runner from a kit I purchased that included the “Cobblestone” pattern by Lehmann Hall Designs.  I gave Cindy the table runner as a Christmas gift.  Cindy has received several of my quilts, including her 25th-anniversary quilt .  Rachel is holding her wall hanging which I made in 2006 using the same pattern as Cindy’s anniversary quilt. This picture was taken at Northwood’s Inn in San Gabriel where we had our Holiday Lunch and exchanged gifts.  I knew this would be my last holiday lunch with “the gang” since I would be retiring the following year so I made quilts for each one.  I hope they treasure them for a long time! Image
I made these quilt tops from my fabric stash using the “Warm Wishes” pattern from Quiltmaker magazine.  I used 6-inch squares with multi-color units of strips. This was a fast, fun project and I love the warm colors! UPDATE 8/15/2013 :  My cousin Angie Luckey, from Idaho, came to California to visit family.  I was able to catch up with her at my Godmother’s home in Los Angeles.  Before my visit, I spoke with her on the phone and she told me she wanted to make a quilt for her yet-to-be-born grandchild.  During my visit, I gave her a super quick lesson on cutting.  And, I gave her a book and a few quilting supplies to get her started.  I also gave her one of these quilts and gave the other quilt to my Godmother.  I was so happy to see both of them and wish we could visit more often.
