My Quilts #286 ~ Unity Quilt 2022

Image
Finished Size: 72" x 91" I just love my Unity Quilt!  This is my fourth Bonnie Hunter quilt, and I am amazed every time I finish one.   I started this quilt in October 2021 and worked on it through November.  Then put it aside until the new year.  I finally got back to it when I decided to finish it by Independence Day.   I followed Bonnie's design without deviation and kept her color scheme.  Like most of her designs, this pattern has a gazillion small pieces, and I am always thankful for my Accuquilt cutter when working on Bonnie's designs.  Her designs, however, are well worth the time and effort. Although I did have to purchase some of the light blue fabric, most of the fabrics were from my stash and many have been around for many years. I love this design with the Peace sign but I didn't have enough for the backing so I had to piece it with a red-with-white stars fabric.  I quilted it on my Moxie longarm using an E2E pantograph with stars and loops and used W

My Quilts #285 ~ Quilters Stand for Ukraine 2022

I made this small 24" wall hanging with Pat Sloan's pattern she designed as a fundraiser for Ukraine's children. I originally made this small quilt to hang on my front door to show my support for Ukraine.  But I decided to make a lap quilt instead and gave the wall hanging to my niece who I know is as horrified as I am about what is happening in Ukraine.  I know she will hang it on her front door. I was more than happy to make a donation to Unicef and am thrilled to know that Quilters Stand for Ukraine has raised almost $225,000 for the children of Ukraine. April 2022

My Quilts #284 ~ You Are My Sunshine 2022

Finished Size: 56" x 71" I made this  "You Are My Sunshine" quilt for my granddaughter Katie. I quilted it on my Moxie with an E2E floral design.  I just love my Moxie with the Pro-Stitcher Lite but still have a lot to learn. I found the perfect backing with tons of sunflowers and cute little birds. And, a quilt is not complete until it has a label. Kaite and Her Quilt - April 2022 I gave the quilt to my granddaughter Katie when she came for a week-long visit.  Katie and Her Quilt - 2000 I've been making quilts for Katie since she was born.  This pink and blue rail fence quilt was the first one I ever made.  This quilt was well-loved and somehow it survived the passage of time.  It found its way back to me where I am safely saving it for Katie someday. My Quilts #283 ~ Uncle Sam's Star 2022

Image
I finished the Uncle Sam's Star quilt top this past September and posted about it here. After I finished quilting this stack of baby quilts on my new Moxie with Pro-Stitcher Lite, I felt comfortable enough to try quilting Uncle Sam's Star. I used an overall E2E design with stars and loops with white thread.  It's a little hard to see but I'm happy with the outcome. I had to piece the backing of this quilt because I didn't have enough of either fabric. I also didn't realize until after I took this picture that the design was sideways. The quilt is composed of twelve “Uncle Sam’s Star Blocks” (12-in. square), ten “Flag Blocks”, and fifteen “Variable Stars” (4-in square). The batting is Warm & Natural, and the quilt measures 59" x 82".  A nice lap-size quilt for July 4th Independence Day.  American Patchwork & Quilting June 2000 Uncle Sam's Star Quilt (c) 2000 I made my first Uncle Sam's Star Quilt in 2000 after I saw the pattern in an Ame

My Quilts #275-#282 ~ Project Linus Comfort Quilts 2022

Finally got around to finishing the stack of 8 baby quilt tops I made in February last year. The pink and blue baby quilts measure on average 40" x 49" and were the first ones I quilted on my new Handiquilter Moxie. This is a close-up of the fabric I used.  I fell in love with it when I found it several years ago at a discount fabric store.  I bought several yards of each color with no pattern in mind except that I would make baby quilts to donate.  I just couldn't resist these adorable animals.   I made these two kids' quilts with a Mickey Mouse print that had been in my stash for a while. I used the Warm Wishes pattern, and each quilt measures 39" x 49". One backing has a bright balloon print and the other has a colorful crayon print. And, I used an E2E balloon quilting design.
